Recording on open reels
Early portable Holter recorders captured the ECG on magnetic tape wound between two reels.

Digital storage replaced tape. DMS systems use removable SD cards to transfer recordings for analysis.

From dedicated readers to a laptop
As tape gave way to digital storage, review moved to computer software. Compatible systems now support analysis and reporting on a laptop.
